Maintaining Muscle – Weightlifting (question)

I wonder if I have stopped increasing weights on my lifts, will I continue to maintain muscle (near where I am now)?

I know that my body will get used to resistance and will not continue to grow muscle, but my goals have changed since I moved to different stages of my life and I want to see what works best for my lifestyle.

Any information would be useful and welcome. Thank you so much!

  1. I’m guessing your goals are as follows:

    1. Maintain
    2. Limit the amount of time spent in the gym

It all comes back to diet and workouts.

If you cut back on the amount of calories you’re expending each day, you’re going to have to account for it with your diet. For example, I’m a teacher and knew I wasn’t going to be on my feet like usual because of schools shutting down. I cut 200 calories and have maintained my weight.

As far as workouts go, get creative. A lot of people find supersets and whole body workouts help to decrease gym time either by the time spent during each session or the number of days per week. You can find routines over in the wiki.

  2. Definitely. I don’t have additional info. But you can maintain your current level by lifting the same amount and eating enough. I’m in the same boat. More focused on cardio but still throw some weights around to keep what I got.

  3. As long as you eat at maintenance, you could probably cut back to working out 2 times a week full body at the same weights and be able to maintain.
